‘Finish your target distance on your own time, at your own chosen venue and help the Surigao earthquake survivors.’
‘Tindog Surigao’ a virtual race event will be conducted for 12 days from May 6 to 17, 2017 for the benefit of Surigao earthquake survivors through Caritas Manila’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program, Caritas Damayan.
With the theme, “Tumakbo nang may kabuluhan, Maging bayani sa munting paraan,” the event will be organized by the VirtualRacePH. It aims to raise at least PHP 100,000.00 for the assistance and support to the victims of the 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Surigao.
Caritas Manila Executive Director Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual invites the public to take part in the virtual race to help the earthquake victims.
“This is a simple way to help our Kababayans who were displaced by the 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Surigao. For every registered participant, a guaranteed PHP200.00 will be donated to them. Let us run and help to alleviate the sufferings of our Kababayan,” Fr. Pascual said.
Participants may register to ‘Tindog Surigao’ from March 27 to May 1, 2017 at https://virtualraceph.com. They may choose from three categories: 16km, 33km and 67km. The featured distance is 67km to commemorate the 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Surigao.
A registration fee of PHP250.00 comes with soft copy of the certificate of completion, PHP550.00 comes with finisher shirt or finisher medal which will be delivered for free within the Philippines and PHP750.00 comes with finisher shirt and medal to be delivered for free as well.
Participants may also join in the ‘Heroes’ Pledges’. They will request their friends or loved ones to pledge for their runs. The suggested minimum pledge is PHP10.00/km. If the participants will join in the 67km category and can encourage his or her friends to pledge, additional PHP670.00 can be raised for Surigao earthquake victims. The pledged amount may be donated directly to Carita Manila or can be pooled together with the proceeds from the registration fee.
A virtual race is an event where registered participants are encouraged to finish a given distance on their own time, at their own chosen venue, with their own preferred company. Participants are their required to upload their data or any proof of completion of their run on the organizer’s page for verification. After completing the challenge, the finishers’ entitlements are delivered to the registered participants.
